The Thatcher Family

My family is everything to me. I am the youngest of 13, and I have 55 nieces and nephews. There is a twenty one year gap between my oldest brother and I. Even though my brothers and sisters are so much older than me, I still feel very close to ever one of them. Being the youngest, I am in such a unique position in the family. I am the only one left unmarried, and I am very close to all of my nieces and nephews. I love everything about being an aunt. I never get sick of babysitting. I feel like my nieces and nephews are my best friends, and I strive to be a good example to them. I am closer in age to many of my nieces and nephews than I am to most of my brothers and sisters. Since there are so many of us, and we are fairly spread out, we have family reunions every year. They are quite the extravagant events! We do a theme every year. One of my favorite years was the Harry Potter reunion. We sorted all the kids into the different houses. After they were sorted, they went through Diagon Alley where they stopped at Gringotts to receive their money to purchase their robes that my mom had sewn for each of them, their wands, books, and even pets. Later we had a Yule Ball, and even some Weasley Fireworks, that were a little too authentic. We had the fireworks that shoot 50 feet, and they tipped over! They were shooting horizontally at all the kids! I think Fred and George might have been behind it. All the aunts and uncles were the different professors and the grandkids got to go to the different classes. Our reunions are always incredible. I am so blessed to be in the Thatcher family. Like my grandpa always said, “Family is Everything.”

The Fairy House

My backyard is a magical place. My mom has always wanted a play house. A few years ago she was looking through a Victorian magazine and she stumbled upon an article about a woman who turned an old shed into a fairy house. My mom dreamed about building her own fairy house for months, and just two years ago my family made it happen. My whole family of 13 siblings and 55 grandchildren contributed to the building of the fairy house until it was finally completed. With her magic touch, my mother has turned it into an enchanting little escape.
